    • I am not very experienced either, but I have found it useful to write out a full manuscript as I meditate on the text. From this manuscript I begin to draw out an outline, which is then what I use when I preach. This gives me the freedom to be creative while preaching, but at the same time I have an outline to keep me on track.

    I think the Lord led me to choose Matt. 5: 13-16 as the Text.
    The heart of the message seems to be, ”Our personal holiness (our act of Glorifying God) brings opportunities for the salvation of others (the blessing received).”

  • I am convinced that good preaching will endeavor to stay as close to the author’s intent as possible in terms of theology and purpose within its canonical function. Exegesis is not enough, if the meaning of the text is the only framework, as meaning is applied within a given historical situation and theological framework.
