I know that there are a lot of legitimate ways to construct a sermon, but I agree with my student. Over the years, this one has held up pretty well, even in my own preaching. Give it a try. It will lead you a long ways toward a more integrative preaching style.

Empathy is a powerful way to connect. another variation is the feel felt, & found approach.

An emotional connection through empathy will relate you understand their point of view, and help them be more open to your perspective.

I might suggest, Brian, that preachers must listen to their own preaching before they ever go about offering it to others. If they do so, they will, in fact, be empathic.
